In the stubborn pursuit of normalcy, I’m going to pretend, just for this post, that the world has not gone completely off the rails, that books will continue to be published despite getting banned, that authors will always have means by which to reach readers, and that thoughtful, resolute, wisdom will eventually cut through the madness. To that end, I’d like to introduce you to a wonderful literary agent who’s helping to keep the flame alive.
Before she became an agent, Caryn Karmatz Rudy was my editor at Grand Central, then Warner Books. She worked with me on my novel Flash House and later on my memoir Gaining: The Truth About Life After Eating Disorders, both of which became bestsellers. In the process, we became friends.
I can testify that Caryn is a tireless, astute editor and an enthusiastic champion of the books she represents. Her original claim to fame at Warner was the #1 bestseller ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne, but she also edited literary fiction and serious nonfiction.
