I believe I remember hearing of Anna’s assassination but did not know who she was. Thanks for this beautiful piece. I now feel like I knew her and am awed by her commitment and personal sacrifice.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother. I have a vivid memory of playing at your house one day in 5th grade. Your mother had what I describe now as authentic elegance. It felt strong and calm, not superficial, even to the 10 year-old me. I remember that she wore her hair in a french twist, which I'd not seen before. On the short drive home I asked my mom how to make a french twist. I'm also glad to still be in touch. And I hope your visit is peaceful. Give the town a hi from me - I haven't been back since 1988 when my mom died.

Thank you Nancy! I don't remember that day, but that was Mom. Never wore her hair any other way as long as I knew her! Never ever changed. I'm sorry you lost your mother so young. Life is just not fair. Much love.

Absolutely! Boundless courage and nobility.

I'm heading back to Cos Cob for my mother's memorial this week. Lots of thoughts of the past. So glad to still be in touch with you, Nancy!
