What a fascinating and important perspective Laleh offers. I am a former newspaper reporter turned novelist and creative non fiction writer and the current news informs my writing, how can it not? We cannot write the world separate from it.

Thank you Amy! When writers get accused of "navel-gazing," it's often because they've bought into the romantic myth of the solitary writer divorced from the world. But our writing means nothing without context, and the news provides that context. Our work inevitably suffers if we're not informed about the RL global world around us.
